The Makers University

Draft

Privacy policy

Draft. This policy is waiting for approval before it is the one we stand behind. It is not in effect yet.

The Makers University member portal is operated by DecoExchange Inc.

What the portal collects

We collect what the portal needs to sign you in, to run your membership, and to do the work you hand to your team.

Your email address, so we can send a sign-in link and know the account is yours. Your name, if you give us one. The time zone from your browser, so class times show in your own time.

Your membership, your credits, and a record of what you paid for: the amount, what it was, and when. We do not keep your full card number.

What you write and upload here: notes in your Memory System, conversations with HQ, community posts, course work, support messages, and files such as photos.

A connection you choose to make, including the Makers Marketing Hub, so your team can do the work you asked for in a tool you already use.

A little about how you use the portal, such as which lessons you open and which jobs spent credits, so the screens can show you where things stand. Signing in also keeps a session on this device so you stay signed in.

Why we collect it

To sign you in, to show the right membership and training, to keep your Memory System and your team's work, to answer you when you ask for help, and to keep a straight record of payments and credits.

How long we keep it

We keep it while you have an account. Your Memory System stays yours if a membership ends, because it is the record of your business. Recordings that came with a membership stop when that membership ends.

A sign-in link works once, and only for a short time.

When you delete your account from My Plan, we remove the account and the notes, messages, and files that belong to it. Your words on community posts and comments are cleared. Replies from other members stay. Credit history, payment records, and the audit stay, with your name and email removed. Lab periods and pass records stay. Approved skills you shared stay in the library. Help desk tickets stay with the help desk. Your contact in the Makers Marketing Hub stays, and payments there are not cancelled. We may keep payment records for as long as bookkeeping and the law require. That sentence is part of this draft, so it can be confirmed before the policy is final.

How to delete your account

Sign in, open My Plan, and choose Delete my account. Type the word delete to confirm. Deleting your account does not cancel your payments. Membership and the Makers Marketing Hub are billed separately. Cancel or change those in billing first, or ask Support, if you do not want to keep paying. If you cannot sign in, use the contact on the Support page.

How to contact support

Support is how you reach a person: a question, a correction, a copy of what we hold, or a request to delete your account. Members write from inside the portal, where we can see the account.

Contact support

Who else sees it

We do not sell your information. Other members cannot read your notes.

People and services that help us run the portal handle information only so the portal can work: hosting, email delivery, payments, and video. We do not name them here.

If you connect a tool, the information that connection needs goes to that tool, because you asked your team to use it.

If the law requires us to share something, we may. The portal is for adults who run a handmade business.
